CyanogenMod is an open source operating system for smartphones and tablets. It is based on a bare-bones version of Android and adds additional functionality, including root access, shortcuts in the notification bar, an expanded lockscreen, and various themes for the interface. Furthermore, there are often performance improvements compared to the software supplied by a manufacturer.
CyanogenMod version 11 is based on Android version 4.4.x and is still under development. Unofficial builds, also called nightlies, are released almost daily, but they are not always stable. To improve this, a code freeze is set every few weeks, so that a more stable build than average can become available shortly afterwards. The tenth so-called Milestone build has now been released and the changelog for this release looks like this:
