Facebook has announced a program called the Gaming Creator Pilot Program that aims to attract game video streamers to its platform. For example, by making it possible to earn money.

The company writes that the test program consists of a number of parts. One is to “support gaming creators with the tools they need to make a living from streaming games on Facebook.” Further on, it writes that one of the possibilities is that fans give donations to streamers during a live stream.

Other parts of the Facebook program should make content from streamers easier to find via the site itself, or via Instagram and Oculus. Streamers should also be given the opportunity to build a community around them. The company writes that streams should be possible at 1080p and 60fps.

Facebook isn’t the only company attempting to attract streamers through monetization opportunities. Microsoft recently announced a similar move for its streaming service Mixer, for example by letting streamers offer games. Twitch has long allowed viewers to tip and buy games through channels on the platform. In addition, recently, it introduced a Video Producer tool.

In an interview with Polygon, Facebook says its program will not be open to everyone and that it will carefully select participants.
