Facebook has released a version of its Messenger application for the iPad. The software is optimized for use on a tablet. Facebook Messenger has been available for the iPhone and devices running Google’s Android mobile operating system for some time now.
The software appeared on the App Store and is free to download for iPad users with at least version 7.0 of the iOS operating system. Facebook has adapted the interface for use on the larger screen of the iPad: both the list of active conversations and the current chat are shown at the same time. Furthermore, the iPad version is largely equivalent to that of the iPhone in terms of functionality.
Facebook recently released Messenger for Windows Phone. Development of the edition for the desktop version of Windows was just stopped. There is also a version for Android, but it is not yet optimized for use on tablets.
