Bethesda studio Arkane Lyon postpones its game Deathloop for the second time. The release date has now been set to September 14. According to the team, extra time is needed to improve quality and realize the ambitions.

The studio also cites keeping its employees healthy and safe as the reason for the postponement. This may have to do with things such as working from home, as a result of the corona pandemic. Arkane Lyon mentions the new release date on Twitter.

Deathloop was announced at E3 in June 2019 as a game that is temporarily exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and PC. The game should have been released at the end of 2020, but that has already been postponed to the second quarter of 2021. The release date was then set to May 5, but that will not be achieved.

The game is an fps set in a surreal environment. Deathloop takes place on the fictional island of Blackreef and players must escape from a time loop as the character Colt, by eliminating targets.

Deathloop is made by Arkane Lyon, the studio known for Dishonored. The studio is part of Bethesda, which was acquired by Microsoft. Arkane Lyon is now an Xbox studio, but Microsoft has already indicated that existing exclusivity deals will be maintained.

Presumably Deathloop will only be available on the PlayStation 5 for a certain period of time, for example a year, and not on other consoles. There will be a PC version when the PS5 version comes out.
