Chinese screen supplier BOE has shown a display for smartphones with a maximum peak brightness of 2600cd/m². That screen must be incorporated into the OnePlus 12, which the Chinese smartphone maker will probably announce before the end of the year.

The fact that BOE has this ‘Oriental’ screen in production is reason for both companies to emphasize that this is an achievement of the Chinese industry, appears from OnePlus’ post. The smartphone maker says that ‘Chinese have climbed to the Mount Everest of the screen industry’. BOE has been supplying OLED screens for years. At first this was done by Huawei, for example, but Apple has now also used BOE screens, although that has stopped again. The Elec reported a year and a half ago.

The OnePlus 12 has an OLED screen with ‘2k resolution’, without mentioning what the exact resolution is. The peak brightness of 2600cd/m² is high, but not exceptionally high; According to the manufacturer, the OnePlus Open achieves 2800cd/m². Other smartphone makers have also increased the brightness of screens recently. For example, the Google Pixel 8 Pro reaches 2400cd/m².

The Oriental screen is incorporated into the OnePlus 12. The Chinese smartphone maker will probably announce it for the Chinese market before the end of the year. A release in Europe usually follows a few months later.
