Bethesda postpones Fallout 4 upgrade for Xbox Series and PS5 until next year

The Fallout 4 upgrade for the Xbox Series consoles, PlayStation 5 and PC will no longer be released this year. Bethesda says it needs more time for the update. The upgrade should, among other things, make 4k and higher fps possible in the game.

The developer provides no further explanation about why the update has been postponed and when it should be released in 2024. Bethesda announced the upgrade in October last year and said at the time that the update would be released in 2023. The free update will have a performance mode for higher frame rates and ‘4k quality features’. In addition, there will be bug fixes and additional content for the Creation Club DLC store. Fallout 4 originally released in 2015.

Thank you for your patience with us as we work on the Fallout 4 next-gen update. We know you’re excited, and so are we! But we need a bit more time and look forward to an exciting return to the Commonwealth in 2024.
