The American AT&T is said to be planning to buy game division Warner Bros. to sell interactively. Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts and Take Two would be potential buyers. The studio owns the Batman, Lego, Mortal Kombat and Harry Potter games, among others.

The sale of Warner Bros. Interactive must bring in about four billion dollars, CNBC writes on the authority of insiders. Those sources say that publishers Activision Blizzard, EA and Take Two are interested, but for now it would still be talks and no deal would have been made yet.

AT&T got Warner Bros. Interactive in 2018, when the American company merged with media company Time Warner. This involved an amount of 109 billion dollars. AT&T has a debt of $165 billion and would like to alleviate it with the sale of its games division. The companies did not respond to CNBC’s coverage.

Warner Bros. Interactive is the game division of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and has been around since 2004. The game company has several studios under it, including TT Games, Rocksteady Studios, NetherRealm Studios, Monolith Productions, Avalanche Software and the WB Games studios in Boston, Montreal and San Francisco.

The Warner Bros. game portfolio. Interactive consists largely of games from franchises of which Warner Bros. owns the rights, including Batman, The Lego Movie, Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. The portfolio also includes the Mortal Kombat and Scribblenaut games. With a sale of the games division, a deal could be struck whereby AT&T continues to receive money for the licensing of the intellectual property.
