Asus comes with a small barebone called VivoMini. The desktop system measures 12.5×12.5cm and is 4.3cm thick. Asus equips the small PC with a Celeron soc and the system includes a vesa stand for wall mounting.
The processor of the VivoMini is the Celeron 2957U dual-core based on the Haswell architecture, which runs at 1.4GHz. The mini PC also includes a gigabit Ethernet port, two USB 3.0 interfaces, HDMI, an audio output and a display port on the back as standard. There are two more USB 3.0 ports on the side, next to an SD memory card reader.
Under the hood are two PCI-E slots, one full-size and one half-sized, an MSATA connection and two Sodimm slots for up to 16GB DDR3 memory. The user must provide that memory himself and the buyer must also connect a storage medium in the form of an SSD or HDD via msata. Also, a WiFi network card is not available by default and the buyer must provide an operating system himself. At various web stores, such as Dixons and MyCom, the VivoMini is now for sale for 249 euros, so it is likely that delivery will start soon.
Asus has previously released compact desktop systems in the Vivo line, but the VivoMini is the smallest yet.
