Apple seems to have accidentally revealed the arrival of the iPad Air 2 and the smaller iPad mini 3. Both models are mentioned in the iOS 8 manual that the company has put online. The tablets are expected to be announced on Thursday.

References to the unannounced iPads have since been taken offline by Apple, but 9 To 5 Mac has screenshots in their hands. The iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 were mentioned by Apple in a user guide for iOS 8 available for download in the books section of the iTunes store.

From the images provided by Apple, it can be concluded that the design of the new iPads remains almost the same as the current models. The pictures also show TouchID, the fingerprint scanner that was first introduced with the iPhone 5S. It also mentions new camera options on the iPad Air 2: there is a burst mode with which photos can be taken in quick succession. More novelties, however, were not revealed.

Previously, suspected images of the new iPad parts came out. This shows that Apple is probably installing a faster soc with the A8X than the A8 that does its job in the iPhone 6. Apple previously used the X suffix to create a faster version of an existing soc. The presence of TouchID was also mentioned in rumors.

Apple is likely to announce the new iPads on Thursday, at its own event to which it recently sent out invites. New iMacs are also expected to be introduced.
