Apple will give the iPhone 13 and 14 phones support for Qi2. That is the standard for wireless charging based on MagSafe. This allows them to charge wirelessly at 15W with third-party accessories.

Support for faster wireless charging is included in the changelog for the release candidate of iOS 17.2. reports 9to5Mac. This requires a wireless charger with Qi2. That is an industry standard based on Apple MagSafe. Qi2 requires magnets for proper placement of the device on a wireless charger. The first Qi2 chargers appear on the market during this period. Apple will probably release iOS 17.2 next week.

Qi2 consists of two profiles. MPP or Magnetic Power Profile is the standard based on MagSafe, while EPP or Extended Power Profile works without magnets and is based on the first version of Qi. Where Qi goes up to 7.5W, Qi2 goes up to 15W. Many phones support wireless charging faster than 15W, but do so with their own technology. Manufacturers announced Qi2 chargers in early September. The Qi2 standard was announced at the beginning of this year during the CES in Las Vegas.
