Apple has made changes to the configuration of the iMac Pro. The most expensive iMac can now also be supplied with 256GB DDR4 ECC memory instead of a maximum of 128GB. Some upgrades, such as the one from 32GB to 64GB, have become cheaper.

When configuring an iMac Pro, customers can now choose the standard amount of 32GB of RAM, or expansions to 64GB, 128GB or 256GB. In all cases it concerns ddr4 ecc memory at 2666MHz. The additional cost for the upgrade to 64GB now costs 480 euros. Until recently, that was 960 euros. An upgrade to 128GB now costs 2400 euros, previously 2880 euros. The additional cost for an upgrade to the maximum amount of 256GB is 6240 euros. That’s more than the base price of the iMac Pro itself.

There are also changes in the GPU choice. The upgrade from a Radeon Pro Vega 56 to a Vega 64 now costs 660 euros. That was 760 euros. A new option has been added; customers can now also choose the Vega 64X for 840 euros. What exactly the difference is between the 64 and the 64X is not clear. Probably the X model has higher clock speeds.

Furthermore, Apple makes the SSD upgrades a bit cheaper. The choice for 2TB or 4TB now has an additional cost of 720 or 2880 euros. That was 960 and 3360 euros. The CPU options and prices for CPU upgrades are unchanged from the release of the iMac Pro in early 2018.
