Anand Lal Shimpi, the well-known tech journalist behind AnandTech, is leaving for Apple. The founder of the popular technology site announced his departure last Sunday but did not say where he was going. However, an Apple employee has confirmed the arrival of Shimpi.

On Sunday, Anand Lal Shimpi announced his departure from the site he founded in 1997 at the age of fourteen. “After 17.5 years of digging, testing, analyzing and writing about the most interesting things in tech, it’s time for a change,” said Shimpi. He hands over the baton of editor-in-chief to Ryan Smith, who has been involved with AnandTech for ten years. Furthermore, new people have been hired at AnandTech and given the good results of the site, the company would also manage without him, Shimpi expects.

At his announcement, 32-year-old Shimpi did not disclose where he was going. However, an Apple employee confirmed to Recode that he is leaving for the Cupertino iPhone maker. It is unclear what the journalist will do at Apple. In the past, Shimpi has already done consulting work for tech companies. According to 9to5Mac, Shimpi isn’t the first to leave AnandTech for Apple: smartphone reviewer Brian Klug is said to have joined Apple early this year.
