Electric motorhomes are slowly starting to make their way and an electric Tesla motorhome should of course not be missing. Author and traveler Travis Rabenberg will deploy the converted, unofficial Tesla for a trip from London to Dubai next year.

The camper, which maker Travis Rabenberg calls the Tesla Roamer, is based on a Tesla Model S P70D. In the converted Model S, the rear has been replaced by a mini living space, including roof, bed, sink and toilet. This is all powered by a large solar panel.

The vehicle is expected to reach a top speed of 241 km/h. Rabenberg hopes that this will break the Guinness World Land Speed Record for electric motorhomes. Furthermore, the Tesla motorhome will have a range of approximately 322 kilometers on a battery charge, according to Rabenberg. That is less than a regular Tesla Model S, which mainly has to do with the non-aerodynamic rear of the motorhome.

Rabenberg will soon demonstrate the new Tesla along with an electric school bus at an electric vehicle event in Michigan, USA. He will eventually drive his Tesla Roamer from England to Dubai, on his way to Expo 2020, which starts in October next year in the Gulf state. This distance is about 7100km.
