The Chinese manufacturer ZTE has unveiled its new 6″ smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Grand Memo II LTE has to compete with models such as the Samsung Galaxy Note and the LG G Pro.

The ZTE device has a slightly larger screen than its predecessor, the Grand Memo. Where the previous one had a 5.7″ display, the new one has a 6″ variant. The Grand Memo II still has a TFT LCD. The resolution of the screen is still the same: 1280 by 720 pixels. At 7.2mm, the device is remarkably thin.

On the inside, ZTE has placed a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 2GB of RAM. Despite the size of the screen, ZTE promises that the 3200mAh battery will last several days with normal use without having to charge it. It is striking that despite the size, the phone only comes in a version with 16GB internal memory. The device has a 5-megapixel camera on the front and a 13-megapixel camera on the back.

In terms of software, the Grand Memo II LTE runs Android 4.4 with ZTE’s proprietary MiFavor 2.3 interface. Due to the size of the screen, the smartphone has the SmartShare and MiniView functions. SmartShare splits the screen in half horizontally to allow multiple apps to be viewed simultaneously, and MiniView scales the screen contents down into a smaller window for one-handed use. ZTE will bring the device to China in April and to the rest of the world on an undisclosed date. Nothing is known about the price yet.
