Zotac introduces Premium SSDs with capacities of 240GB and 480GB
Zotac comes with two 2.5″ SATA SSDs, which will be housed in a new Premium Edition series. The SSDs use a Phison controller and mlc-nand memory and come on the market with storage capacities of 240 and 480GB .
According to the specified specifications, the new Premium SSDs achieve sequential read and write speeds of 520 and 500MB/s. The 240GB model is equipped with 256MB DDR3 cache memory, the 480GB version has 512MB DDR3. For the mlc-nand memory, which comes from Toshiba, Zotac gives a TBW of 480 terabytes for the largest model. The 240GB variant has a TBW of 214 terabytes.
The manufacturer uses a Phison controller, just like Corsair and Kingston, among others. That controller offers various functions such as SmartECC, power failure protection and advanced wear-leveling. According to Zotac, the SATA drives thus offer protection against data corruption or loss.
Zotac is a new player in the SSD market. The manufacturer is particularly known for its compact PCs and recently had a 120GB SSD in its range. Zotac has not yet announced prices for the Premium Edition SSDs.
