Zoom will support smart speakers with a screen

Video conference software Zoom will work on smart speakers with screens from later this year. You can do a Zoom meeting on a Google Nest Hub Max, Amazon Echo Show and Facebook Portal.

Zoom will be available on Facebook Portal first in September, the company says. Portal then adds support for various services, including Cisco Webex. These apps can use the same algorithms to keep track of people as Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, the services with video support from Facebook itself.

Support for Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub Max will follow later in the fall, but Zoom does not provide an exact date. The integration does not work with apps; instead, users can enter meetings through the calendar app that already works on the smart speakers. Users can also ask the various digital assistants to enter the next meeting via Zoom. The aim of the integration is to make it easier and more accessible for home workers to enter Zoom meetings than is currently the case. The system can work via voice commands.
