‘YouTube makes music upload function more widely available’

It seems that Google has made the upload feature for importing local music files more widely available in YouTube Music. At least that is what the website 9to5Google states based on its own findings.

According to 9to5Google, Google started slowly last week to make the upload function available for YouTube Music and now it seems that this ‘cloud library’ has actually become more widely available. Various employees of the website can now use it, although this is not yet the case for everyone. Google hasn’t officially announced the feature yet.

If the function has been enabled by Google for the account to be used, the user can click on the avatar at the top right of the window, after which an upload function will be visible in the menu. This makes it possible to add your own locally stored files in the formats flac, m4a, mp3, ogg and wma.

There were previously indications that Google would make the upload function for its own music available in YouTube Music, partly based on sources from 9to5Google. Google has been testing the feature internally for a while now. The import function of own music files already exists in Google Play Music; YouTube Music will replace this app and is already the default service in Android 10. When Play Music will disappear permanently is unknown.
