Xiaomi introduced the Mi MIX 2S, the first Chinese smartphone with a Snapdragon 845 processor. The stylishly designed device is very similar to its predecessor, the Mi MIX 2, but still has a number of innovations, including the double camera on the back and some new features.

The edge at the bottom of the 5.99 inch Full HD + screen is slightly smaller on the new model than on the Mi MIX 2. However, the front camera is still in the lower right corner. The display has an aspect ratio of 18: 9 and supports the DCI-P3 color range.
Camera with AI function
New on the Mi MIX 2S is the vertically placed double rear camera, with a 12 megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor and f / 1.8 wide-angle lens, and a second 12-megapixel sensor with 2x optical zoom and photographs with a sharp subject and blurred background.

The camera also offers a number of new functions and dynamic effects for the bokeh photos, such as ‘AI Dream Bokeh’ and ‘Van Gogh Starry Night’. The AI function, the latest trend in smartphone country, can identify no less than 206 topics and supports real-time translation of languages and currencies. In addition, the camera has possibilities such as dual-pixel autofocus and 4-axis optical image stabilization.
The front camera of the Mi MIX 2S has an 8 megapixel sensor, supports ‘face unlock’ and can add bokeh effects to your selfies via AI.

Wireless charging
The Mi MIX 2S is Xiaomi’s first smartphone that can be charged wirelessly. The device supports 7.5W Qi, a standard that is also supported by the 2017 iPhones. The battery in the Mi MIX 2S has a capacity of 3,400 mAh and can be quickly recharged thanks to Quick Charge 3.0.
Powerful hardware
As mentioned, the Mi MIX 2 Xiaomi’s first smartphone with the fast Snapdragon 845 chipset with Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE). The cheapest version of the device has 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage memory, while the most expensive version has 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. For those who still have too little storage capacity, a microSD card can also be added.
The housing is made of an aluminum frame and on the outside a ceramic material, just like the previous Mi MIX models. A fingerprint scanner is located next to the camera on the back. A 3.5 mm headphone jack is missing, but there is a USB port and Bluetooth 5.0.

The Mi MIX 2S runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Xiaomi’s MIUI 9.5 interface. This now also supports the Xiao AI voice assistant (only in China), who according to Xiaomi is just as smart as Siri on the iPhone. The device will be available in white and black versions and the prices in China are 423 euro (6GB RAM + 64GB ROM), 462 euro (6GB + 128GB) and 513 euro (8GB + 256GB). The wireless charger for the Mi MIX 2S, which can also be used for other smartphones that support Qi, will cost 99 yuan (12.70 euro).
