Worldwide shipments of PCs and laptops fell in recent months, only HP grew
Global deliveries of PCs and laptops fell by 9 percent in recent months compared to the same period a year ago. Of all the major manufacturers, only HP recorded growth, while deliveries at other manufacturers shrank.
In total, all manufacturers together delivered around 64 million desktops and laptops, Gartner has calculated this. Manufacturers have not yet published quarterly figures, so these figures may be adjusted later. Trends indicated by analyst firms are usually correct from the start.
HP was the only one to increase and has a market share of 21 percent, just behind market leader Lenovo. It has 25 percent of the market, despite a small decline in deliveries. The biggest decliner was Apple, which, according to Gartner, delivered almost a quarter fewer desktops and laptops than in the same period a year ago. Dell and ASUS also delivered a lot fewer PCs. Gartner expects that after eight quarters of declining deliveries, the market will grow again in the coming months. Analyst firms base figures on, among other things, their own information that they receive from, for example, retailers and manufacturers themselves.
