World of Warcraft gets paid boost to level 90

Blizzard is going to upgrade characters in World of Warcraft to level 90 for $ 60, converted 44 euros. Anyone who purchases the latest expansion, Warlords of Draenor, can also upgrade one character to level 90 for free.

Blizzard justifies the decision by stating that there is a chance that people wanted several level 90 characters in WoW, while they have already used the free upgrade of the upcoming expansion and do not have time to level up themselves. In that situation, the user would be required to purchase another copy of Warlords of Draenor. Something that would be “extremely weird and uncomfortable,” Blizzard’s Ion Hazikostas told Eurogamer. The expansion increases the number of levels to one hundred.

Many World of Warcraft players complain that there will soon be no one who actually reaches higher levels in the game. After all, it sometimes takes hundreds of hours to bring a character to level 90. Blizzard uses that as motivation for the high price of the upgrade. “We didn’t want to devalue the achievement of leveling up. If we wanted to sell as many upgrades as possible, we would have made the upgrade $10. We’re not doing this to make a lot of sales,” added Hazzikostas. It is not yet known how much the upgrade will cost in euros. World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor has been officially announced, but the release date has not yet been set.
