The MotionPlus, an attachment with which the Wii-mote can be made more accurate, will be available from June 12. Wii Sports Resort, Nintendo’s first game that can use the new hardware, will be released on June 24.

Thanks to an announcement from Electronic Arts, it was already known that the Wii MotionPlus would be released before the summer. Nintendo has now announced the official date: the MotionPlus, which must be linked to the Wiimote, will be for sale from June 12th. No price has yet been announced for the attachment, which increases the precision of the Wiimote using a mems gyroscope.

The first game from Nintendo to use the MotionPlus is Wii Sports Resort. This successor to Wii Sports, which comes free with every Wii, will be available for purchase from June 24 and will be sold together with a MotionPlus. The price of the bundle has not yet been announced. In addition to Wii Sports Resort, the MotionPlus is also supported by two games that Electronic Arts announced: Grand Slam Tennis and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. Both games will be released in June. Sega is the first publisher to release a game with support for MotionPlus: Virtua Tennis 2009 will be released on May 19.
