WhatsApp will end support for Windows Phone at the end of this year

WhatsApp will stop supporting its app on all versions of Windows Phone at the end of this year, the Facebook subsidiary has confirmed. It seems that the chat app will no longer work on Windows 10 Mobile.

WhatsApp will end support on December 31 of this year, after which the app will no longer function on “all Windows Phone operating systems,” according to WhatsApp. The company does not specifically mention the latest version, Windows 10 Mobile, but nevertheless it seems that support for it is also ending. WhatsApp says in a statement to various Indian media, including BGR, that it has made the decision “following Microsoft’s decision to stop supporting Windows Mobile in December.” Support for Windows 10 Mobile devices will end on December 10, Microsoft says.

WhatsApp will continue to end support for iOS 7 and older on iPhones and Android 2.3.7 and older on February 1, 2020. Previously, support for Nokia’s Symbian S60, Nokia’s S40, BlackBerry OS 7 and BlackBerry 10, among others, stopped. will only run on iOS 8 and newer, Android 4 and newer, and KaiOS in a year.
