WhatsApp has revealed that it now processes more than 50 billion messages a day. The data shows that user activity via the popular chat application is still on the rise.

The milestone was made public by WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum during a presentation in Munich, TechCrunch reports. The number of 50 billion messages per day is considerably more than the 31 billion messages per day that WhatsApp announced in September last year.

Those 50 billion messages a day are sent by a total of about 430 million users. That is 30 million users more than last month, showing that the number of users of the popular chat application continues to rise sharply.

Koum also announced that his company will not focus on expanding the functionality; according to the CEO, stability of the service is paramount and Whatsapp will not be provided with games and the option to delete photos after a certain time; the latter feature is best known from the competing chat service Snapchat. In addition, Whatsapp will not be provided with advertisements.
