Vivo has announced the NEX 3 5G smartphone. The phone has a 6.89″ AMOLED screen with bezels that run over the sides of the device. The NEX 3 will be released in Asia sometime in the coming months. Whether the device will come to Europe is unknown.

The NEX 3 5G has a 6.89″ AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2256×1080 pixels. The screen supports HDR 10, and according to several publications could display 100 percent of the dci-p3 color spectrum. The screen continues along the sides of the device, similar to the edge screens of some Samsung Galaxy smartphones. According to Vivo, the screen can be used in this way to display notifications when the device is turned upside down on the table. Below the screen is a fingerprint sensor.

Last week, Vivo already claimed that the NEX 3 has a relative screen size of 99.6 percent, a claim that might be something to argue with, although the reviews should show that.

The Nex 3 includes a Snapdragon 855 Plus chip with Qualcomm X50 modem with 5g support. The device comes in variants with 8GB and 12GB of ram with 128GB and 256GB of storage space respectively. It was previously expected that the phone would contain up to 512GB of storage capacity, but this turns out not to be true. The NEX 3 has a battery capacity of 4500mAh and supports fast charging with a power of 44W. The device comes with Android 9.

The back of the device contains three cameras. A 64-megapixel primary camera is flanked by two 13-megapixel cameras; a telephoto camera and a wide-angle camera. Striking is the pop-up selfie camera with a resolution of 16 megapixels.

The NEX 3 includes a 3.5mm jack for headphones with an AK4377A Hi-Fi dac. This dac supports 32bit audio with a sampling rate of 384KHz. The device has no buttons on the side. Instead, Vivo uses virtual buttons with haptic feedback, similar to the HTC U12+. There is, however, a small button on the top of the phone that you can use to turn on the device.

Vivo will gradually release the NEX 3 5G in several Asian markets in the coming months. Whether the device will also come to Europe is unknown, but Vivo indicated earlier this year that they want to enter the European market.
