Vivo announced the X Fold on Monday. This will be the first foldable smartphone from the Chinese tech manufacturer. The X Fold is only available for the Chinese market. Whether and if so when the device will be released worldwide is unknown.

The vivo X Fold has a large 8-inch foldable ‘tablet screen’ on the inside and a 6.5-inch phone screen on the outside. In that regard, the device resembles Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, as was previously revealed by rumors. According to GSMArena the smartphone can be folded flat by the hinge or opened at angles of between 60 and 120 degrees.

The smartphone has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and a 4600mAh battery. It can be charged wirelessly with 50W and with a cable with 66W. Both screens have a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and built-in fingerprint scanners.

According to Android Authority There are four cameras on the back of the X Fold: a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide angle lens, a 2x 12-megapixel telephoto camera and a 5x 8-megapixel periscope camera.

The vivo X Fold has a suggested retail price of 1300 euros for the model with 12 GB of ram and 256 GB of storage. There is also a variant with 512 GB storage space, which is sold for the equivalent of 1441 euros.
