The new versions of the Tesla Model X and S, which Tesla announced in January, feature an AMD Ryzen apu and a separate GPU based on the RDNA 2 architecture. Tesla previously said that it is possible to play Cyberpunk 2077 on the hardware, among other things.

During its Computex presentation, AMD confirmed the presence of its hardware in the infotainment systems of the new Tesla cars. The systems run on an embedded Ryzen apu and also feature a separate GPU based on the RDNA 2 architecture with ten teraflops of computing power. Elon Musk compares the available computing power with that of the PlayStation 5. That console also has an RDNA 2 GPU with a computing power of about ten teraflops.

AMD does not provide exact details about the chips used in the cars. Earlier this year, information about the RDNA 2 chip in the car already appeared. It would be a Navi 23 GPU with 8GB GDDR6. The specifications would therefore match those of the Radeon RX 6600M for laptops.

At the presentation of the renewed Tesla Model S and X in January, Tesla already said that it is possible to play games such as The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 on the 17″ screen on the dashboard. The RDNA 2 GPU is only used as such heavy games are played. The rest of the infotainment system runs on the integrated GPU of the Ryzen apu.
