Ubisoft pulls games from sale whose online services will stop in September

Ubisoft has withdrawn several games from Steam, including Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, Space Junkies and Silent Hunter 5. Also, the aforementioned titles will no longer be playable via Steam from September 1.

On the Steam pages of Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, Space Junkies and Silent Hunter 5 is that they are no longer for sale. In addition, the games will no longer be accessible from September. Ubisoft previously reported that the online services of certain games will no longer be available later this year, like Far Cry 3 and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. These have now been provided with a warning. Far Cry 3 and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will continue to be available after September 1.

What is striking about Far Cry 3 is that the Deluxe edition is still for sale through Ubisoft’s own store. This release includes DLC, while Far Cry 3 is on the list of games for which “installation and access to DLC will be unavailable from September.” The game’s Deluxe Bundle DLC is no longer available on Steam. It is not clear whether the multiplayer mode of the PC version will also be removed in two months.

Ubisoft announced at the beginning of this month that it will make the online services of 15 games inaccessible on September 1. Most of these are older titles for PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. Seven PC titles also lose all their DLC, even if it has already been purchased. The company wants to “focus on delivering great experiences for players who play newer or more popular titles.” Ubisoft holds a total overview of closed online services in games.
