Ubisoft is ending Ubidays

Publisher Ubisoft will not be hosting a Ubidays event this year. The publisher has shown its latest games at its own event in recent years, but this year opts for a stronger presence at the major international fairs.

“With E3 in the United States, Gamescom in Cologne and Tokyo Games Show in Japan, we believe we have enough stages to show our creativity and innovation,” thus a spokesperson for the French publisher against MCV. The Ubidays event was held annually in Paris and attracted over a thousand journalists and other professionals from the games industry. In 2008 the event took place in the Louvre.

Ubisoft’s change of course is largely related to the changed set-up of the Electronic Entertainment Expo. E3 has been small-scale in recent years, but will return in its old form this year. This means that there will be more media than in recent years. A lot of international press is expected, so the event will be less focused on the United States. This change has not only prompted Ubisoft, but also other publishers, such as THQ and Sega, to focus on E3 rather than their own events.
