Ubisoft cannot guarantee the future of Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia. Chief creative officer Serge Hascoet says there is “fighting for resources”. Hascoet cannot elaborate on the answer.

Game Informer asks Hascoet if there are any franchises on Ubisoft’s radar that haven’t had a new release in the past five to ten years. The chief creative officer specifically mentions Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia in his response. “I cannot give any information at the moment, but I can say that we are fighting for resources. It is not a matter of unwillingness, but a matter of powerlessness.”

The last Splinter Cell game to be released was Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist on August 23, 2013. By November of that year, Ubisoft had shipped just two million copies worldwide, according to GameSpot. Forgotten Sands, the last Prince of Persia game, was released in May 2010 for consoles and handhelds. A month later, the game got a PC version. On July 25, 2013, Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame was released for iOS. The original game was released for MS-DOS in 1993.
