Torrentz2’s page on the .eu domain is offline and the whois information shows that this domain name is temporarily inactive due to an investigation. The administrator reports to TorrentFreak that the domain name has been put on hold by authorities.
EURid, which is responsible for the top-level domain, is said to have notified the administrator of the action against its domain name via email, without stating which authorities ordered the takedown. Torrentz2 can still be reached via its backup on the Icelandic top-level domain.
According to Torrentfreak, Torrentz2 is the world’s largest metasearch engine for torrents. The site took over from Torrentz, which closed in 2016.
