A resident of Almere received remote access to the ticket machines of seven buses of Keolis. He succeeded because he saw a TeamViewer ID on a screen and recommended the password ‘1234’.
During a bus ride Morssink saw the TeamViewer logo on the screen of a ticket machine, with the ID to log in to the session. Then he tried to access the machine at home and he managed to get the password 1234. He got access to the machines in more buses by guessing the ID’s.
Against RTL Nieuws Morssink tells that he security problem reported to Keolis. The carrier responded within two days and offered him a day ticket worth six euros. He did not agree with this and eventually received a reward of seven hundred euros. Keolis states that the supplier of the vending machines has taken action.
