Three new Motorola smartwatches will hit the market in June and July

Three new Motorola smartwatches will be launched this year. The devices are said to be made under license by Canada’s CE Brands Inc. It would be both rectangular and round smartwatches. It is not certain whether they will also come to Europe.

The products came to light through a CE Brands roadmap, which was presented to investors. A Moto G Smartwatch would be released in June. The G designation suggests that it should be a relatively affordable smartwatch, just like the Moto G smartphone series. A month after this smartwatch, a rectangular Moto Watch and a round Moto One should come out. Other slides show that the watches run on Wear OS, have Qualcomm hardware, and that the company describes them as “premium wearables,” although that may not apply to the G model. The slides were discovered by WatchSmarty and would have been shown to investors on February 9.

Specifications of the watches are not included. However, Qualcomm announced last year that it was making two new socs for wearables: the Snapdragon 4100 and 4100+. They are made on a 12nm process, which is much smaller than the previous 28nm process. According to the manufacturer, the 12nm socs offer 85 percent higher CPU performance and a 2.5x faster GPU compared to predecessors.

Motorola hasn’t made the Moto smartwatches itself for a while now. It stopped developing smartwatches in 2016, adding that there was not enough demand at that time to continue with the smartwatches. EBuyNow, which is being acquired by CE Brands, also released a new Moto 360 at the end of 2019.

The Motorola watches would enter a market that is indeed quiet at the moment. Competition in the market is currently there in the form of Fossil, Mobvoi and some others. Samsung may also soon come with a Wear OS smartwatch on the market, instead of the usual Tizen.
