Three-hundred-gram lighter PS5 revision appears in Australia

Sony has once again introduced an overhaul of its PS5 console. The new version of the game console has been made lighter again. For example, the Japanese managed to get 300 grams from the disc version of the PS5. That version is now just as heavy as the digital version at release.

That writes Press-Start.com.au based on contact with points of sale in home country Australia. In addition to the 300 grams less, the website does not point out any other striking differences, although it also states that it is not the right party to immediately perform a whole teardown of the console.

The 2021 revision of the console also included a lighter console, but the differences didn’t stop there. The so-called CFI-1100 from 2021 has a simpler cooler on the inside, which made it warmer in certain situations, but kept cooler in others. However, at the bottom of the line, performance was not affected or improved on that overhaul, concluded Digital Foundry and Gamers Nexus.

So it remains to be seen where Sony got the weight savings from this time. Compared to the console release, the disc edition has lost 600 grams and the digital edition 500 grams. The digital edition of the latest revision now comes in at 3.4 kilograms and the disc edition at 3.9 kilograms.
