The Lord of the Rings anime film about Helm’s Deep will be released in 2024

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will be released on April 12, 2024. That’s what makes Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema known. Warner Bros. also shows concept images of the anime film for the first time.

Warner Bros. shares the release date with the Variety website. The company is collaborating with New Line Cinema on the anime film. Kenji Kamiyama, known from the series Blade Runner: Black Lotus, is directing the film. Philippa Boyens becomes executive producer. Boyens has worked on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, among others. Sola Entertainment is working on the animations and the cast of voice actors will be announced soon.

The film was already announced last year. It is an anime feature film set 250 years before the events of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The film tells the story of the King of Rohan and the creation of Helm’s Deep. In addition to the release date, Warner Bros. also the first concept art of the upcoming anime movie, created by Weta Workshop. It shows how Edoras, the capital of Rohan and home of the Rohirrim, is attacked.

The War of the Rohirrim isn’t the only The Lord of the Rings project being worked on. Amazon is coming with a television series based on the franchise: The Rings of Power. The company released a first teaser of this earlier this week. The Rings of Power will be released September 2 on Prime Video streaming service.
