The fastest Golf ever, GTI TCR, is coming to the Netherlands

Good news for all Dutch GTI enthusiasts! The Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR is coming to the Netherlands. Earlier this year, a draft version was unveiled at the Austrian Wörthersee GTI Treffen . This fast wave makes its Dutch debut on September 16 during the GTI Originals & More event in Purmerend.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR is inspired by the racing car of the same name that already won the international TCR race series twice. The study model is powered by a 2.0 liter turbo engine with 213 kW / 290 hp (available between 5,000 and 6,800 rpm) and a torque of 370 Nm (available between 1,600 and 4,300 rpm).

These drive forces are guided to the front wheels via a seven-speed DSG transmission with double clutch and a limited slip differential. The top speed is 250 km / h. But with the production version that will be released at the end of 2018 it is possible to have the electronic limiter removed, the top speed is no less than 264 km / h.

The GTI TCR stands out not only with its performance, but also with unique looks. This Golf is available with different 18 or 19-inch light-alloy wheels. Behind it are perforated brake discs with special calipers and pads that guarantee an optimal deceleration, even on the track. It is optionally available with a titanium exhaust system from Akrapovič, which until now was only available for the four-wheel drive Golf R.

The limited slip differential of the Golf GTI Performance is fitted as standard on the front axle. This ensures more traction and even better road handling in fast corners. The throttle response, power steering and transmission can be adjusted to Eco, Normal, Sport and Individual. Anyone who opts for the Dynamic Chassis Control can also change the settings of the chassis from Normal to Comfort or Sport.

Pure Gray

Volkswagen has developed a special color for the Golf GTI TCR: Pure Gray. The hot hatch is of course also available in other GTI shades like Pure White, Tornado Red, Deep Black Pearl Effect and Oryx White Pearl Effect.

The sports seats in the interior of the Volkswagen are covered with a special combination of microfibre and fabric. The heart of the seats is Flash Red, which matches the stitching on the leather-covered GTI sports steering wheel, the seat belts and the gear knob.

Dutch premiere on September 16

On September 16, this upper GTI will be presented in style during ‘GTI Originals & More’ in Purmerend. The event is being held for the third time this year and has grown into one of the largest GTI meetings in the Netherlands. The production version of the Golf GTI TCR will be available at the end of 2018 in a limited edition.

Specs, prices and availability will be announced in the run-up to the introduction.
