Publisher Take-Two Interactive delivered more copies of Grand Theft Auto V in 2016 than in 2015 and 2014. Since its release in 2013, the total now stands at 75 million copies. In December, there was a record number of players active in GTA: Online.

The figures come from an explanation of the quarterly figures of Take-Two, which a video game analyst tweets about posted. About 15 million copies of the game have been delivered in one year. That is slightly more than in 2015 and also more than in 2014. When the game was released in 2013, the most copies were delivered: more than thirty million units. According to the analyst, the growth in deliveries compared to the previous two years is due to the fact that people who buy a new console often buy GTA:V with it.

It is not known how many players were active in GTA: Online in December, but according to Take-Two there were more than ever. Rockstar Games, the studio responsible for GTA:V, has recently released a lot of updates for the online part of the game. Those updates are free, but money is made from the sale of Shark Cards, which contain virtual money that can be spent in-game. GTA:V is therefore one of Take-Two’s biggest sources of income.

Since the release of GTA:V in 2013, Rockstar Games has not released any major new games. That will change this year, when Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released for PS4 and Xbox One in the fall. The studio announced the long-awaited sequel to the western game in October.

Take-Two also announced that 5 million copies of Mafia III have now been delivered. The first week after release, that number was already at 4.5 million. Civilization 6 deliveries have passed 1.5 million. The game company booked a quarterly turnover of 476.5 million dollars, converted about 446 million euros. That is an increase of 15 percent compared to the same quarter a year earlier.
