Take-Two Interactive has sold more than 52 million copies of Grand Theft Auto V worldwide since its initial release in September 2013. The publisher gets the majority of its revenue from the GTA franchise.

Take-Two Interactive reports the sales results of GTA V, which is now also available for the PC, in its quarterly figures. The company also derives an increasing part of its revenue from online distribution channels. Meanwhile, 47 percent of the turnover is generated through these channels. In-game spending in particular, such as gamer spending in the online component of Grand Theft Auto V, and the purchase of new content, grew strongly.

In addition to ‘cash cow’ GTA V, Take-Two also managed to achieve success with games such as NBA 2K, Evolve, Borderlands and WWE 2K. For the foreseeable future, the publisher hopes to resume monetization of new titles in its NBA and WWE franchises. Take-Two has also pinned its hopes on Battleborn, a shooter that should hit the market at the end of this year. In addition, the publisher is expected to announce an undisclosed title at its E3 press conference.
