System76 introduces its Thelio Mira workstation. This Linux computer has AMD Ryzen CPUs and can be equipped with up to two Nvidia RTX Quadro GPUs. Like other Thelio models, the Mira uses an open source housing.

The System76 Thelio Mira can be equipped with all current AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs, although a variant with Ryzen 5 3600 chip is also available. System76 supplies up to 128GB of DDR4 memory with the Thelio Mira and optionally provides the workstation with ECC memory. In terms of storage, the manufacturer supplies NVMe SSDs with a PCIe 3.0 or 4.0 interface, which can be supplemented with SATA SSDs or 3.5″ HDDs.

The cheapest model gets an Nvidia GeForce GT 1030 video card. System76 also offers variants with a GTX 1650 Super, RTX 3070 or 3090, or RTX Quadro video cards. The Thelio Mira PCs with Quadro GPU can optionally be supplied with a second video card. The Thelio Mira comes with 650W, 750W or 1000W power supply. All models have 80 Plus certification, with the 650W variant having an efficiency of 82 percent or greater, which equates to 80 Plus Bronze. The remaining models have an efficiency of 87 percent or higher, which is equivalent to 80 Plus Gold.

The inside of the Thelio Mira

The Mira is slightly larger than the regular Thelio, but smaller than the Major variant. The housing measures 436.35×253×331mm and is partly made of wood. Users can choose from different wood types and colours. The system makes full use of air cooling. Like other workstations in the Thelio series, the housing of the Mira is also open source. Among other things, System76 publishes CAD files on its GitHub page, which users can use to rebuild the enclosure if they have the right equipment. System76 does not sell the housing itself separately.

The entry-level model costs $1499, although for that amount users get a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, Nvidia GeForce GT 1030 and 8GB of single-channel DDR4 memory. A variant with Ryzen 5 5600X, GTX 1650 Super and 16GB of memory in dual-channel mode costs $2256. The most expensive model with Ryzen 9 5950X, two Nvidia Quadro RTX 8000 GPUs, 128GB ECC memory and the maximum amount of SSD storage costs $23,250.
