Star Wars: Battlefront Won’t Get Server Browser – Update

Star Wars: Battlefront will not get a server browser, but will instead use a new matchmaking system based on players’ skills. This probably applies to all platforms.

The community manager of Star Wars: Battlefront, Mat Everett, makes this known on Reddit. He is responding to a user’s question, which reads, “can you confirm that there is a server browser in the console versions?” Everett’s answer to that is “Battlefront will not have a server browser, but will use a skill-based matchmaking system.” So the manager does not explicitly say that the absence of a server browser only applies to the console versions of the game, or also to the Windows version.

Furthermore, Everett warns against fake registration websites for the upcoming beta of the game, and states that registrations will take place on StarWars.EA.com. No pre-order is required to access the beta and there is no limit to the amount of beta sign-ups. There is no start date for registrations yet. Users may be required to turn off in-game music before posting streams and clips to YouTube due to potential copyright strikes. But more about that will be announced later.

Update, 17:43: a Twitter user asks EA specifically to the state of affairs regarding the Windows version. He gets the same response: “Star Wars: Battlefront will not offer a server browser.” Although this representative does not specifically mention the Windows version in his statement, it can be assumed on the basis of the specific question that the Windows version of the game will also not receive a server browser. The lead of the piece has been adjusted accordingly.
