Sony provides PlayStation app with new interface and voice chat function

Sony will release an updated version of its PlayStation app on Wednesday. The mobile application will be given a new interface and will include a voice chat function. PS5 users can also launch games through the app in the future.

Users can create parties and voice chats with up to 15 users via the PlayStation app, Sony reports. The interface of the app has also been renewed. For example, the home screen in the new version shows, among other things, which games are currently being played by friends. The home screen also shows information about games that the user has recently played. The current home screen of the app shows a ‘What’s New’ screen, which shows, among other things, recently achieved trophies from friends.

Furthermore, the messages function is processed in the app. Users can already send messages to other PlayStation users via their smartphones, but this functionality is currently still incorporated in a separate app. Sony is also adding an Explore screen, where articles from the official PlayStation blog are posted, among other things.

The app will also get new features that work with the PlayStation 5. Users of this next-gen console can launch PS5 games through the app, “manage console storage” and log in to the PS5 through the app. The PlayStation 5 will be released on November 19th. The new version of the app should be available on Android and iOS this week.
