Sony has announced a new OLED television at the CES fair in Las Vegas. The AF8 is largely the same as its predecessor in terms of specifications, although the AF8 immediately has support for Dolby Vision.

Like the existing A1, the AF8 comes in two sizes: a 55″ and a 65″ variant. Just like the A1, the television will also be available with a screen diagonal of 77 inches. The new 4K OLED TV also features the special Acoustic Surface audio system, which vibrates the entire screen of the TV to generate sound waves, while two small subwoofers and connections are incorporated at the back of the TV.

The new model features the existing X1 Extreme image processor and runs on Google’s Android TV operating system, making it possible to install apps and stream videos via built-in Chromecast functionality. The current A1 OLED TV and the LCD models ZD9 and XE94/E93 will receive an update for Dolby Vision this month; With the AF8, this support is immediately available, in addition to support for the HDR standards HDR10 and Hlg.

As with all OLED TVs, the panels in the AF8 televisions come from LG Display, which also supplies OLED panels to manufacturers such as Philips and Panasonic. It is not yet known what the televisions will cost.
