Sonos announced the second-generation Sonos Beam on Tuesday. The soundbar supports Dolby Atmos and will later also support Digital Surround Sound. The new generation Sonos Beam should be available from next month.

Upon release, the new Sonos Beam will immediately support Dolby Atmos. In addition, the company promises to add DTS support later this year. This support will not only come to the new model, but also to Playbar, Playbase, Amp and Arc if they support the S2 app. That also applies to the first generation of Sonos Beam.

According to the company, the second generation Sonos Beam has a better sound experience and is again specifically aimed at home cinema. Furthermore, the soundbar is now compatible with HDMI eARC. The new Beam has also received an NFC chip to easily connect smart devices.

Sonos will release the new version of its soundbar on October 5 and gives the renewed Beam a suggested retail price of 499 euros. The Soundbar is available at release in a white and black version.
