Spread the love

RAR Labs has released the fourth beta release of version 5.80 of its archiving programs RAR and WinRAR. This popular compression tool is available for a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS. The program handles the most common formats – including rar, zip, cab, arj, lzh, tar, gz, uue, bz2, jar, iso, 7z and z – has a skinnable interface, and support for Zip64 and multivolume cab files. The following three issues have been fixed in this release:

Bugs fixed in version 5.80 beta 4:

  • If hard link was extracted over existing hard link with same name, WinRAR could fail to properly set its file attributes;
  • Turning off “Integrate WinRAR into shell” option did not remove “WinRAR archive” and “WinRAR ZIP archive” items from Windows “New” context menu;
  • Extraction could hang infinitely when unpacking some corrupt ARJ archives and corrupt ZIP archives with BZIP2 compression algorithm.
