Software Update: Wine 1.1.26

On Friday, Wine’s usual bi-weekly new development build was released. Wine is contributed by a large group of developers, which is why it was decided to release a new build every two weeks, instead of waiting for a number of new features to be ready. Wine is an open source implementation of the Windows API. This makes it possible to run DOS and Windows programs on Linux, FreeBSD and Mac OS X, among others. The database with applications running under Wine, with or without some minor tweaks, contains 12,229 titles at the time of writing, exactly 100 more than two weeks ago. Below you will find the changes and improvements that have been made this time:

What’s new in this release:

  • Still more translation updates.
  • Faster bitmap stretching using XRender.
  • Proxy support in WinHTTP.
  • Many more JScript functions.

Bugs fixed in 1.1.26:

  • Menu/combo-box functionality in managed mode.
  • GetPixel() returns wrong value for monochrome bitmaps
  • Wrong size of commdlg OpenFile dialog in radvideo.exe
