The first release candidate of version 1.0 of Wine was released on Friday. With the help of Wine it is possible to run DOS and Windows programs on Linux, Freebsd and Mac OS X, among others. Wine is maintained by a large group of enthusiastic developers and instead of releasing new releases when new features are added to the software, they have chosen to release a new build every two weeks. More information about Wine can be found in this FAQ are being found. Since there is a so-called codefreeze is in effect, this release contains no new features. Of course, the necessary bug fixes have been implemented:
