Software Update: Weave Sync 1.2.1

Spread the love

The developers at Mozilla Labs have released a new version of Weave Sync, this time with a version number of 1.2.1. Weave Sync is a plug-in for the popular browser Firefox, which is being developed by the same organization. The plug-in makes it possible to save personal settings, such as bookmarks, personas and browsing history in the cloud. This means that a user’s laptop, desktop and mobile phone can have the same information everywhere. The list of changes since the previous entry in the Meuktracker looks like this:

Version 1.2.1:

  • Sync a capped number of form history items to avoid slowing/hanging Firefox

Version 1.2:

  • Improvements to switch more quickly to more frequent syncs as additional clients are added
  • On PCs and Macs, pull all data from the server in one pass, avoiding the impression of incomplete/incorrect sync
  • Improve synced tabs interfaces and discoverability and sync more tabs
  • Split “Start Over” into sync reset and change accounts (with warning prompt)
  • Prevent old data from less-frequently used machines from replacing recent changes
  • Update server storage to allow multiple client versions to share the same data version
  • Make each data type have its own storage version to reduce the potential for server wipes on upgrade
  • Multiple fixes to verify the encrypted data records have not been tampered with
  • Avoid syncing when Firefox is starting (and loading tabs)
  • Better inform users if the account needs to be set up
  • Sync additional data: search-bar queries and bookmark folder descriptions
