Vopt, which is pronounced as V-opt, is one of the oldest defragmenter programs for Windows. However, the program can do more than just defragment. For example, it can also check the hard disk for errors and get rid of unnecessary files. In addition, it can also really empty the free space on the hard drive. Version 9.21 was released at the end of 2010 and was previously offered as shareware. However, the author of Vopt passed away at the beginning of this year and he has stated in his will that after his death the program as freeware should be offered and that will be the case from now on.
