Software Update: VMware Workstation Pro 15.1.0

Spread the love

VMware has released version 15.1 of its virtualization software Workstation Pro. With this program it is possible to create one or more virtual computers on which a large number of different operating systems can be installed. That way they can be used side by side, as opposed to a dual boot setup, which requires choosing one OS or the other. VMware Workstation is available for Windows and Linux, and licenses start at about 275 euros. In version 15.1 support has been added for some new operating systems, stretch guest display now works on all guest systems and some security vulnerabilities have been fixed.

What’s New

  • Support for new guest operating systems:
    • Windows 10 19H1
    • Ubuntu 19.04
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.0
    • Fedora 30
    • ESXi 6.7 Update 2
  • Stretch guest display: This feature is now extended to support all guests running on Windows hosts. In Workstation 15.0.x, stretch guest for Windows was supported only for versions earlier than Windows 7. This limitation has been removed .

This release of VMware Workstation Player addresses the following issues:

  • VMware Workstation 15.1 Player supports Hypervisor-Specific Mitigations and Hypervisor-Assisted Guest Mitigations for Microarchitectural Data Sampling (MDS) vulnerabilities identified by CVE-2018-12126, CVE-2018-12127, CVE-2018-12130 and CVE-2019-11091.
