VMware released version 12.5.3 of its virtualization software Workstation Pro and Player last week and is already coming with an update due to a security problem. With this program it is possible to create one or more virtual computers on which a large number of different operating systems can be installed. That way, they can be used side by side, as opposed to a dual boot setup, where you have to choose one or the other. VMware Workstation Pro is available for Windows and Linux, and licenses start at around $250. Workstation Player is free for home use, but has a more limited feature set. What’s New

This release of VMware Workstation Player addresses an out-of-bounds memory access vulnerability related to the drag-and-drop feature. This vulnerability might allow a guest to execute code on the operating system that runs VMware Workstation Player. the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project assigned the identifier CVE-2017-4901 to this issue.
