VMware has released version 17.0.0 of Workstation Player. Player is free software that allows creating and running virtual machines. However, a fee is charged for commercial use. Simply put, it is a simplified version of other VMware products, such as Workstation Pro, Server, and ESX Server. Microsoft Virtual PC virtual machines and Symantec LiveState Recovery disks are also supported. New in version 17 includes a virtual TPM 2.0 module, enabling support for Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022, as well as support for OpenGL 4.3 and Windows Display Driver Model 1.2.

- New Virtual Trusted Platform Module 2.0: Workstation Player now offers a virtual Trusted Platform Module (version 2.0) device to support Windows 11 and other operating systems that require a TPM.
